Pastor Joshua and Krystal Kelley

“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” ~ Psalm 8:4

I’ve always enjoyed this verse because it reminds us that, even though we’re but dust, God made us special and set his affection on us when He gave us his son, Jesus Christ. He’s such a wonderful God! If you’ve never accepted Jesus as your Savior, I urge you to visit our Eternal Life page to learn more.

Thank you for your interest in Helotes Independent Baptist Church and for visiting our website. HIBC is a family oriented, old-fashioned Baptist church that teaches and preaches from the Bible in a friendly and loving environment.

My name is Joshua Kelley and I've pastored HIBC since April 2017. Prior to this I was assistant pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in Austin, TX, from 2014 to 2017. Before this I served, most recently, as youth pastor at my childhood church, NorthSide Baptist Church in Nolanville, TX, from 2012 to 2014. Here I served under and was mentored by the late Pastor Olton Phillips.

From early adulthood I also served as a police officer in a number of specialties, from detective to patrol work and everything in between. My public service helped and prepared me to work with and understand people, even in their darkest times.

As a young Army brat my family was transferred from Germany to Fort Hood, TX. My parents found NorthSide, began attending and this is where I accepted Jesus and was baptized at age 12. I also met my wife, Krystal, here. Krystal also came from an Army family and was saved and baptized at age 11. We grew up together and eventually married Nov. 4, 2006.

At NorthSide I served in whatever church role I could. Even from a young age I knew God wanted to use me. At age 16 I surrendered to full-time service during a church missions conference. Ten years later God called me into full-time service.

Krystal and I have three children: Riley, Kendall and Erin. Praise God, Riley and Kendall have both professed salvation and Riley has been scripturally baptized.

Thank you again for visiting our site and we hope to see you in person real soon!

In Christ,

Pastor Joshua Kelley
